Sales Development, Existing Business

About Shopify

Opportunity is not evenly distributed. Shopify puts independence within reach for anyone with a dream to start a business. We propel entrepreneurs and enterprises to scale the heights of their potential. Since 2006, we’ve grown to 10,000 employees and generated over $496 billion in sales for millions of merchants in 175 countries.

This is life-defining work that directly impacts people’s lives as much as it transforms your own. This is putting the power of the few in the hands of the many, is a future with more voices rather than fewer, and is creating more choices instead of an elite option.

About you

Moving at our pace brings a lot of change, complexity, and ambiguity—and a little bit of chaos. Shopifolk thrive on that and are comfortable being uncomfortable. That means Shopify is not the right place for everyone.

Before you apply, consider if you can:
  • Care deeply about what you do and about making commerce better for everyone
  • Excel by seeking professional and personal hypergrowth
  • Keep up with an unrelenting pace (the week, not the quarter)
  • Be resilient and resourceful in face of ambiguity and thrive on (rather than endure) change
  • Bring critical thought and opinion
  • Embrace differences and disagreement to get shit done and move forward
  • Work digital-first for your daily work

About the role

We’re looking for highly motivated sales professionals to join our team in a few vital roles: Account Executive, Sales Development Representative and Team Lead. These positions offer a unique chance to build a rewarding career with a company that values growth and provides continuous opportunities for advancement.

Role Overview:

Our sales team directly collaborates with notable brands and entrepreneurs. You’ll help them launch or expand their commercial footprint, whether through e-commerce or physical retail. Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with prospects and clients to understand their unique needs and challenges, and provide them with tailored commerce solutions

  • Lead and participate in high-volume outreach efforts through calls, emails, social media, and other channels to qualify leads

  • Manage a comprehensive sales cycle from initial contact through to contract negotiations, maintaining a pipeline of opportunities

  • Serve as a proactive point of contact for clients, ensuring an exceptional service experience

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance client engagements and outcomes

  • Stay on top of the latest product features, industry trends, and market dynamics to provide the best possible advice and service to merchants

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills — capable of building trusting relationships and effectively conveying the value of Shopify’s offerings

  • Proven ability to manage detailed sales cycles and succeed in a competitive environment

  • Adept at high-volume sales activities and capable of maintaining focus and efficiency in fast-paced settings

  • Experience with CRM tools (for example: Salesforce), and familiarity with sales engagement platforms preferred

  • Self-motivated and driven by results, with the tenacity to pursue leads and close deals

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and thrive on change

  • Knowledgeable in targeting and engaging potential clients through strategic questioning and active listening

Additional Qualifications for Team Leads:

  • Proven leadership experience with expertise in managing sales teams and driving them to exceed targets.

  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, adept at using data to influence sales strategies and decisions.

  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on efficient, innovative solutions that enhance team performance and client satisfaction.

Craft @ Shopify

Craft has always been the heart of Shopify. We’re a company, founded by crafters, focused on a mission to make commerce better for everyone. This is why we want careers at Shopify to reflect the incredible journey of getting better at your craft and applying it to push our mission forward. Shopifolk generally follow one of two career tracks

The crafter track is designed for individual contributors, whose primary purpose is getting shit done. Crafters hone their skills and gain experience primarily through project contributions, but they may also act as player coaches to their peers or lead small, focused teams of peer crafters executing on specific areas of the business or product.

The manager track is designed for people leaders, the stewards of the organization. The tool of a manager is their team, and this is how a manager makes the majority of their impact. They assemble, lead, and aim the team to ensure the team’s crafters achieve Shopify’s mission goals.

Where You’ll Work

Shopify is Digital by Design and our workforce is remote. As Shopify continues to expand its global presence, we're thrilled to announce that we’re looking to open a new sales hub in Dallas! We’re looking for energetic Sales Development Representatives to join us and champion innovation and creativity while shaping the future of e-commerce. Successful hires will be required to work under a hybrid model spending 4 days a week (currently Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, subject to change) in the sales hub office in Dallas. This hybrid model is something we are trying on a temporary basis, for certain sales positions only. As such, you should be ready to pivot and be prepared for a future that is fully remote, fully hybrid, or something in between!

Still interested? Great! To match you with your ideal role, we’ll take the time to get to know you and the skills you bring to the table. If you’re applying to a specific role, we’ll respond within 10 business days. If we don’t have an immediate opening, don’t worry! We’ll give you an update and keep you in mind for future roles. Just do us a favour and try not to submit more than one or two applications. Only submit additional applications if you really match the criteria for multiple roles.

We hire people, not resumes. If you think you’re right for the role, apply now.
