Nice. This will be an awesome way to create smarter “Sub-categories” of sorts. Well done Shopify team!

This is going to make things so much easier.

Awesome! Long time coming :)

Can you describe this in more detail with perhaps a demo?

Will there be any hierarchy of collections?
If any item is in 1 collection and has several tags, now I can include it in those collections by tag, too.
Will any collection take precedence over another in terms of how they are displayed?

Oi, I’ve been waiting on this for a while.
Oh well, time to reframe.

Thank you. What would make this super useful is if we could use the OR operator in smart collections combined with this new addition. To give an example, I’m building a site that sells lots of cheese. Each item is tagged with it’s country name so it’s easy enough to create a smart collection that matches a single country tag eg. French Cheeses.
However, when it comes to creating a smart collection for British Cheeses for example, I can’t specify product tag England OR product tag Scotland OR product tag Wales etc. I either have to give each of these products an additional tag of ‘British’ or manually add them to a normal collection. Please please please add this soon, i’m dreading all the manual work for over 700 products :(

I fully agree with the request from Chris Antoniou. It would be much more valuable to have the “or” operator or even “contains” for tags. This would allow true “smart” collections. In advance, thank you for doing this soon!

We really need EITHER an ‘OR’ condition (which, I understand, might convolute the interface) or we need some negative operators (e.g. Does NOT Contain). Without this, currently, it’s difficult to avoid overlapping Smart Collections.
The purpose of Smart Collections is to give us ways to avoid having to manage products in collections individually, so tagging things individually is counter-intuitive.

I agree with Chris Bricker, I would really like to have some negative operators available also.

I would also really like to see negative operators.

+1 for an “OR” operator. Without it, smart collections are almost as frustrating as exact-match search criteria.

Agree with the need for OR!

+1 for OR operator.

Really, really need an OR operator… without it smart collections are useless. I’m with the above!
