About the role
Shopify is the world’s fastest-growing commerce platform, with no plans to slow down.
The Internal Security team works on our custom authentication and authorization system that is designed to meet the needs of Shopify as we scale, while continuing to embrace our “default to open” philosophy. This system is modelled primarily around Google’s BeyondCorp framework, an access model that allows for dynamic evaluation of requirements.
The team is working on the design, development, and integration of the system so it stays up and able to power 4000+ employees (and growing) worldwide daily!
As a Staff Security Engineering Developer, you’ll be joining the team and will be leading technical design, reviews and implementation of that system, along with the integration of a multitude of projects in its core (identity, device manager, etc.).
This team mainly uses Ruby, Go, Google Cloud Platform, Github, Okta.
What your day to day will look like
- Development of features and integrations
- Mentoring team members: review pull requests, pair program with others on the team
- Technical reviews of what other teams are doing
You’ll need to have
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, and generally strong backend development experience
- Experience providing day-to-day mentorship to developers, preferably both local and remote
- Strong communication skills: you’ll be working with team members geolocated in office and also in other offices, and also with other teams
