About the role

Shopify is hiring Technical Senior Product Managers for our Core Platform team!

With over 1 million merchants in more than 175 different countries, powered by the most innovative platform on the market, we continue to grow rapidly while constantly looking for new ways to impact and disrupt markets.

As a Technical Product Manager, you will help define the strategy, drive requirements, and deliver products that power the Core Shopify platform. You will work closely with world-class Engineering teams, Product Managers, and UXers. In this opportunity, you will build the world's best Online Store, Checkout and Admin for merchants to set up and run their business.

You'll get to:

  • Build core products our merchants need to start, grow, and scale their business

  • Communicate with development teams in technical details, understand the implications of certain choices, and make trade-offs in complexity, depth or even timelines

  • Prioritize and plan features based on company and stakeholder priorities and business values

  • Take part in conversations when engineers are discussing the best way to implement something

  • Help the teams estimate more accurately

  • Create and iterate upon the product roadmap and technical product requirements

Qualifications

  • A proven history of success building products in Product Manager roles at high-tech, high-growth SaaS software companies
  • A genuine excitement for solving merchant problems and a strong sense of empathy for the merchant and their buyers

  • Experience facilitating technical discussions for products

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multiple projects, align on goals, and output

  • Experience providing feedback and inputs in technical and architectural design

  • The ability to distill technical concepts to business users and vice versa

  • An entrepreneurial mindset - you must be comfortable rolling up your sleeves, thriving in ambiguity, and getting the work done

It'd be great if you also had:

  • Previous experience as a software developer or hands-on knowledge of how to code
